Make Life Better #worldmentalhealthday

2020-10-08

Mental health problems can affect anyone, any day of the year, but World Mental Health Day, is a great opportunity to show your support for better mental health.

The months of lockdown and loss have had a huge impact on us all, and prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now. Recent studies suggest that at least half a million more people in UK may experience mental ill health as a result of Covid-19,(Centre for Mental Health)

Making positive change can seem so hard, especially during uncertain times. It can be difficult to know where to start. Our team are committed to making life better, every day they work hard to deliver creative technology solutions and exceed customer expectations.

At the beginning of 2020 staff voted for Action Mental Health to be our charity partner for the year, raising support and funds for them has remained important to everyone despite the challenges Covid restrictions have imposed. AMH have continued to deliver vital services throughout the pandemic and found innovative ways to support and help people.

Whilst team fundraising options were limited and some would have preferred coffee morning treats and bake- off challenges, we opted to get active and move for mental health. Staff agreed to take part in a 5k a day challenge for the month of September. Some walked, others ran, and there were even a few cyclists and swimmers over the 30 days.

Collectively the team exceeded expectations and covered 3035km and raised a fantastic total of £1500

It costs on average £300 for AMH to deliver  a session in a secondary school, these funds will support the delivery of another five sessions for local schools and help around 150 young people!

Many local business and organisations across N. Ireland, including Antrim and Newtownabbey Council will flood their buildings in purple light on world mental health day, our team will be joining in by wearing purple to show our support.

Check out the photos below of few of those who took part in our team challenge and join them, and others globally, on 10th Oct, wear purple to raise awareness that mental health is as important as physical health this #worldmentalhealthday
